So uh, today is the big day. Rachael has been told it is not too late to back out about a million times. I'm starting to think maybe I suck.

Anyways, about 10 hours from now we'll be either in the airport or on our way to Orlando. Yay, I hope I don't get turned around going to Orlando.

Last night on my way back from Perry, I decided to learn a new path that might speed up my new drive to work.

I headed into Granger and took the turn at the stoplights onto F31, I thought it strange that it pointed to Minburn but thought that maybe I was just confused about where Minburn was. It was the right turn, I just didn't fork in the right direction at some point I guess.

The road was all curvy and I quickly lost orientation. Every time I passed a road that I would recognize the name, I failed to notice because something else caught my eye. Like a sign that made things seem...right....

I crossed R22 while looking at a sign for a development that I often see. I figured I was on the other side of the development. Mistake #1.

I crossed P58 while noticing a sign that said Perry 7 miles. Huh, how is that possible I thought. It must mean 7 miles to the turn you must take to go to perry. I often see signs like that around Des Moines.

Eventually I see Highway 4, what the deuce I thought. That is where we were when we went to Panorama, this is wierd. But maybe it wraps around and goes east-west. WRONG!

Oh also I was on gravel by this time. I was pissed at dad for suggesting this way because it is the slowest way i'd ever seen. I still couldn't see the Des Moines light pollution.

I went across several one lane bridges and finally came to a point where it told me I must turn right because forward is a golf course. As I turn I see a sign, Lake Panorama Golf Course. SHIT! I call dad, "Hey, is Lake Panorama Golf Course on Lake Panorama, or did they give it a crappy name." Sigh...

I see highway 4 again and he tells me to take a left and that it would take me into Panora. Little did he know I was going east again by this time...and little did I know because I was so confused that it didn't even matter.

I take the left and soon realize he was wrong because I still haven't seen the town. Poof! Yale 1 mile! I know where I am for the first time since I turned at granger. I call dad and let him know I'm back on track, although I've made a giant circle around the center of Iowa.

I find my way back to Perry easily watching my now very low gas tank. I rolled into Kum & Go and filled up at 310 miles since my last fill up. Which is alot since I've usually been filling up at 280 now.

I believe I traveled around 90 or so miles on my way home from Perry to Waukee. I have to tell you, dad was wrong. That way isn't faster.
